Sleep Sounds Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

How can I get a full list of all the sounds?

The easiest way is to visit our sounds page.

You can also say "Alexa, open Sleep Sounds" and then say "List Sounds". She'll send the list to your Alexa app and, if you want, read each one to you. It might take a while...we have over 50 sounds!

How do I combine sounds?

You can play up to 3 sounds at the same time to make your own perfect sleep ambiance. To combine sounds, just separate the sound names with "AND".

For example:

"Play Ocean and Beautiful Dream"

"Play Thunderstorm and Frogs and Crickets"

Why do you have all these individual "Sleep Sound" skills in addition to your main skill which has all the sounds in one?

Alexa requires you to use specific format for starting a skill. This includes saying "Alexa" followed by one or more "invocation words" (like "play", "start", or "ask") followed by the skill "invocation name" and then (optionally) an action.

This means to play a sound, you need to say something like "Alexa, ask Sleep Sounds to play Thunderstorm". While this isn't terrible, it's much easier to say "Alexa, play Thunderstorm Sounds". That's why we created the individual "Sleep Sounds: Thunderstorm Sounds" skill let's you do that. We've created these individual skills for many of our sounds.

How can I play the sounds for a specific length of time?

By default, our sounds will play until you say "Alexa, Stop".

If you want the sounds to play a shorter time, first play the sound as you normally do. Then, say "Alexa, set a sleep timer for 2 hours" or however long you want the sounds to play.

Can I make a request to add a new sound?

Absolutely! Just e-mail us at support@sleepsounds.io and we'll be happy to add it to the list.

While we may not add every sound you request, we'll do our best to include it if it's not too similar to an existing sound.
